What qualifications do you need to start an AAT course?
You do not need any previous work experience or specific qualifications to study the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. The only requirement is that you have already completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting first. Students who already have previous finance or accounting qualifications or an accounting or finance degree many be eligible for exemptions from doing the previous levels.

The only prior experience you’ll need to study the AAT Level 3 online course is to have completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting prior to starting your Level 3 Diploma in Accounting course. This is because the Level 2 course is designed to equip learners with all the foundation knowledge they’ll need ahead of studying the four AAT Level 3 modules.
If you already have a relevant degree or other qualification, you may be eligible for exemptions from the previous levels. AAT can provide information on exemptions. -
The AAT accreditation pathway is not designed for those looking to pursue a career in management accounting. If you are looking to study accounting for managers, take a look at courses offered by CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).
