Drive meaningful change across your organisation with people management courses

A globally recognised organisation, the CIPD is renowned for its research and expertise in people development. A CIPD Level 5 qualification, sometimes thought of as a Level 5 leadership and management course or a Level 5 diploma in leadership and management, will help to deepen your understanding of employee relationships, organisational performance, and talent management.

Who is it for?

  • People currently working in HR/L&D management or anyone looking to further their career in people management.
  • Ambitious, open-minded learners that want the freedom and flexibility that comes with studying part-time.

CIPD Level 5 entry requirements

  • It’s possible to do a CIPD Level 5 leadership and management course without any previous study. However, it’s recommended that you’ve already studied a CIPD Level 3 qualification, hold a relevant degree, or have work experience in HR or L&D before beginning the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

When studying for this people management course, you will complete a written assignment after each module. This will allow you to demonstrate the knowledge you have gained throughout your studies, and will be submitted online, marked by our assessors, and then moderated by CIPD. When each module has been successfully completed, you will be awarded your CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

Becoming a CIPD member

  • A CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice is ideal for HR professionals that are just starting their careers, such as an HR assistant/administrator, an organisational development officer, or a learning administrator. It is recommended that anyone starting a CIPD Level 3 course online is 16+, and educated to GCSE level or equivalent.

A CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management is for those currently working in an HR/Learning & Development management role, or anyone looking to further their career in people management. • Yes, you can. However, the Level 3 courses provide you with a solid grounding in all aspects of L&D, so most students find it easier to complete the Level 3 qualification first – or at least have several years’ experience working in a HR role.

  • CIPD Level 5 diplomas are highly regarded in the HR and L&D industries, and are roughly equivalent to a foundation degree, or the first year of an undergraduate degree in difficulty and skills gained. Studying relevant L&D or HR Level 5 courses opens the opportunity to study a further people management course or seek entry level job roles within this industry.

  • StaySharp courses are designed so that you can study at your own pace, so you have the flexibility. Many people complete the CIPD Level 5 course in around 12-14 months.

  • Most people consider the Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management to be equivalent to a foundation degree. This is the same whether or not learners study CIPD Level 5 online or in person.
